Alatau will be transformed into "Kazakhstan's Dubai" without visas and with special rights for foreigners

Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, speaking at the plenary session of the Astana International Forum (AIF), told how he sees the development of the new city of Alatau in the Almaty region.

Madiyev noted that this city will be of great importance for Kazakhstan. It can develop according to several scenarios: either at the expense of the state budget, as was the case with Astana and Turkestan, or as a platform for attracting private and foreign investors. In the case of Alatau, in his opinion, the second scenario should be implemented.

- You know, there are characteristics that distinguish the cities that investors go to. First of all, it is the existence of a special economic zone and a certain legal framework. English should become the main business language of this city, Madiyev said.

The minister added that for the development of the city it is necessary to promote cryptocurrencies and make them a full-fledged means of payment that can be used even during tenders. It is also necessary to allow foreigners to buy real estate in the city.

According to Madiyev, the authorities want to make Alatau a hub for both tourism and education, as well as build many trade routes through the city.

- We want young people to choose Alatau rather than live in Dubai or Turkey. It will be possible to do this kind of work, make regulatory changes, and thus make Alatau attractive, Madiev said.
