The President was briefed on the results of the Alatau City Roadshow, organised in the People’s Republic of China.
According to Kanat Bozumbayev, 20 events and meetings were held as part of the international presentation, resulting in the signing of 30 agreements and memoranda of understanding worth 6.4 billion dollars. During the meeting with the Mayor of Shenzhen, Qin Weizhong, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, John Lee, and the management of major international companies, investment opportunities in the city of Alatau were presented.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also briefed on work plans in line with the instructions he had issued during his recent working visit to the Almaty Region.
The Head of State was informed about the implementation of projects in the water resources sector, including the modernisation of hydraulic structures and the construction of new reservoirs and canals.
In addition, progress on the national project ‘Modernisation of the Energy and Utilities Sectors’ was reviewed. This year, more than 1.1 trillion tenge will be allocated to the renewal of housing and utilities infrastructure, which is a record amount since independence. Funding will be provided through loans from domestic and international financial institutions. These measures will enable the wear and tear on utility networks to be reduced by up to 40 per cent within three years.
