Olzhas Bektenov discussed cooperation on the development of Alatau City with Lawrence Ho, head of Melco Resorts & Entertainment

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Lawrence Ho, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the international company Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited.
The development of a modern tourism industry is one of the key priorities of state policy aimed at diversifying the economy, attracting investment and creating new sources of economic growth.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the development of Kazakhstan’s tourism infrastructure, as well as opportunities for investors to participate in projects within the city of Alatau.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the President is paying particular attention to the implementation of the Alatau City project and the construction of the necessary infrastructure. On 1 July 2026, the new Constitution will come into force, along with the Constitutional Law ‘On the Special Legal Regime of the City of Alatau’, which provides for transparent mechanisms for engaging with investors, long-term stability in the conditions for implementing investment projects, and modern mechanisms for investment protection.
Lawrence Ho, Chairman of the Board of Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, expressed the company’s interest in implementing joint projects, noting Kazakhstan’s high potential for the development of tourism and the hospitality industry.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their interest in further cooperation on the development of modern tourism infrastructure.
