The Alatau City Investment Roundtable was held in London, marking the launch of a European roadshow aimed at attracting international capital for the development of Alatau City. The Kazakhstani delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev.
The event brought together representatives of more than 70 companies, investment funds, banks and expert organisations, including JPMorgan Chase, AstraZeneca, BP and Brookfield Asset Management. Participants were introduced to the Alatau City development concept, the city's investment opportunities, priority infrastructure projects and mechanisms for international capital participation in their implementation.
Addressing the participants, Kanat Bozumbayev highlighted the strategic importance of Alatau City, a national project being implemented at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“We have deliberately chosen London as the starting point for our roadshow, as it is one of the world's leading financial and legal centres. The United Kingdom is our strategic partner. Alatau City is a national project initiated by the Head of State. We are creating a new hub for business, finance, technology and logistics that will become an important link in economic cooperation between Europe and Asia,” Kanat Bozumbayev stated.
During the roundtable, Alisher Abdykadyrov, Chief Executive Officer of the Alatau City Authority, outlined the city's key development priorities, including the establishment of modern engineering and transport infrastructure, as well as industrial, business and logistics zones.
International engineering and consulting firm ARUP presented its approaches to spatial planning and urban infrastructure development. Baiterek Holding introduced financial instruments available to support investment projects.
One of Alatau City's key competitive advantages is its special legal regime, established under the Constitutional Law of 8 May 2026. The framework provides for the application of principles of the law of England and Wales, modern investment protection mechanisms and the creation of a predictable business environment.
An expert session featuring international law firms Norton Rose Fulbright, Reed Smith and Boies Schiller Flexner focused on legal mechanisms for attracting investment, public-private partnerships, international arbitration, digital asset regulation and commercial dispute resolution. Participants also explored the prospects for establishing a specialised Alatau City Investment Court operating on the principles of English law.
As part of the business programme, meetings were held with senior representatives of the London Stock Exchange, Brookfield Asset Management, Société Générale, J.P. Morgan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Discussions focused on opportunities to attract institutional capital, leverage project financing instruments and facilitate the participation of international financial institutions in the development of the city's energy, transport and engineering infrastructure.
The Alatau City Investment Roundtable concluded with the signing of nine agreements with international partners, representing a combined potential investment value of $1.3 billion. The agreements cover the financing of infrastructure and investment projects, the development of educational and healthcare facilities, and the expansion of international cooperation. In particular, the agreements envisage exploring opportunities to establish educational institutions in partnership with the University of Exeter, Brighton College and Repton Group. Cooperation with AstraZeneca and Crescent Meditours will focus on healthcare infrastructure development, investment attraction and scientific exchange.
