Almaty metro wants to extend to Alatau city

Two announcements about preparation of feasibility study for construction of the third metro line have been placed on the state procurement website.

The project is planned to be implemented in stages: the first stage – from Alatau city to Mizam market, the second – from Mizam market to Sayran station, Kazinform writes.

The customer is Almaty city mobility department. The decree of Akimat of the city dated April 18, 2025 became the basis for the beginning of design.

1,3 billion tenge (1 351 054 778) has been allocated for the development of documentation for the first stage, and 896 million tenge (896 459 961) for the second. Open tenders for both projects will be arranged from 11 to 18 June this year. The period of work execution is until May 31, 2026.

According to the data published on the public procurement website, 7 stations are planned to be built on the section from Alatau city to Mizam market:

Station No. 1 - near Gate City, on the territory of the northern transport hub;

Station No. 2 - near Kemel microdistrict;

Station No. 3 - at the intersection of the northern bypass road and Boralday Street;

Station No. 4 - along the northern bypass road, at the intersection with shopping lane;

Station No. 5 - along the northern bypass road, near the military unit;

Station No. 6 - near Kenzhekhan market;

Station No. 7 - on the territory of Mizam market.

A line to the electric depot, which will be located to the north of the northern transport hub, is also envisaged.
