What status will be assigned to the AIFC and Alatau city in the updated Constitution

According to the developers of amendments to the country's basic law, these changes are necessary for the effective economic development of the republic.

There are plans to introduce a regulation into the Constitution of Kazakhstan on the possibility of establishing a special legal regime in the financial sector. This was announced at a meeting by Bakyt Nurmukhanov, deputy head of the Constitutional Court.

According to him, this involves the creation of so-called “accelerated development cities” in certain areas of the country. In particular, this concerns the activities of the AIFC, as well as the development of Alatau city. Nurmukhanov noted that such changes are essential for the effective economic development of the republic.

Bakyt Nurmukhanov stressed that the administrative-territorial structure of the country will continue to be regulated exclusively by constitutional law.

“The constitutional norm on the unity of the state, as well as on the integrity, inviolability, and inalienability of the territory of Kazakhstan remains unchanged,” he said.
