President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the opening ceremony of the World Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai, dedicated to the theme “Partnership in Artificial Intelligence for a Bright Future.”
At the beginning of his speech, our Head of State noted that this conference reflects China’s outstanding achievements in the field of artificial intelligence.
“Today, more than half of the world’s AI researchers are from the People’s Republic of China. Chinese innovators account for the largest number of patents in the field of AI, and the country’s dynamic innovation ecosystem is advancing at a breakneck pace in many areas of cutting-edge technology,” said the President.
“We have declared this year the Year of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and have approved the nationwide strategy “Digital Kazakhstan – 2029.” The Law on Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Code have been adopted. A comprehensive technological platform, Smart City, has been launched in the capital. Soon, this initiative will be widely implemented in all major cities of Kazakhstan. In addition, we are giving priority to the strategic development of Alatau, Central Asia’s first fully integrated digital city. “To attract global technology companies, investors, and innovators—primarily from China—the new Constitution establishes a special legal regime for the city of Alatau,” the President noted.
In conclusion, the Head of State noted that Kazakhstan is ready to engage in fruitful cooperation with all partners to harness the potential of artificial intelligence in the interest of maintaining long-term peace, sustainable development, and universal prosperity.
Other speakers at the conference’s opening ceremony included Chinese President Xi Jinping, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
