As part of his working visit to the Republic of Korea, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev held meetings with the leadership of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Lotte Hotels & Resorts, Doosan Enerbility, and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Kazinform reports, citing the Government’s press service.
The parties discussed the participation of Korean companies in the implementation of infrastructure and investment projects in Alatau City.
At the meeting with KEPCO, the parties reviewed prospects for cooperation in developing Alatau City’s energy infrastructure. In particular, discussions focused on the Korean corporation’s potential involvement in the design of electricity transmission and distribution systems, construction of substations, integration with the national power grid, and deployment of local energy networks.
The development of Alatau City’s own power generation capacity was discussed with the leadership of Doosan Enerbility and GGGI. One of the promising areas under consideration is the construction of a 2×250 MW gas-fired power plant with the potential for a subsequent transition to hydrogen. Doosan Enerbility could serve as the project’s technology and EPC partner.
The parties also discussed the development of tourism and hospitality infrastructure. With Lotte Hotels & Resorts, discussions focused on the potential development of a multifunctional complex in Alatau City featuring an L7 by Lotte hotel. The project, valued at over $200 million, is expected to include a 180-room hotel, office spaces, and residential apartments.
