Air Astana is set to introduce its first three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft into service in 2027, according to the airline’s press service, as reported by Kapital.kz business news agency.
According to the airline, the first aircraft, registered as EI-KZA, has entered the manufacturer's flight testing programme in Charleston, United States, where one of Boeing's production facilities is located. Its maiden test flight took place on 1 October 2026.
Boeing is currently carrying out the necessary certification procedures ahead of the delivery of the first aircraft.
“The first three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will enter service with Air Astana in 2027. The arrival of the Dreamliners will mark a significant milestone in the modernisation of Air Astana's fleet. These long-haul aircraft will gradually replace the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft currently in operation, enhance operational efficiency and create new opportunities to expand the airline's international route network while maintaining high standards of passenger comfort,” the company concluded.
