Alatau City's first skyscraper will break Almaty's record: what Iconic Towers will look like

Journalists have obtained exclusive sketches of Iconic Towers, the future world-class skyscraper in Alatau City. The project promises to become a new architectural landmark not only for the city, but for the entire south of Kazakhstan.

The complex will be 272 meters high, which is almost 110 meters higher than the current record holder in Almaty, Esentai Tower. The architectural concept involves two towers connected by a common podium. The 56-storey tower will house Class A offices and modern apartments, while the second tower, approximately 80 meters high, will place a five-star international hotel.

The total area of the complex will exceed 270,000 square meters. The three-level podium will locate cultural spaces and a large shopping and entertainment center. The project is designed according to the principle of a “vertical city”: business, residential, and hotel areas will operate autonomously and will not intersect with each other.

The design was chosen from proposals by the legendary British firm Zaha Hadid Architects and the American company Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the architect of the Burj Khalifa. In the end, SOM's concept was selected.

The key contractor will be the global giant China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), which is involved in the construction of the largest high-rise buildings around the world. Special emphasis will be placed on earthquake resistance. Experts are studying the best American and Japanese technologies that allow buildings to withstand strong underground tremors.

Iconic Towers is set to become a magnet for business and a symbol of a new stage in the region's development.
