President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s working visit to the Almaty Region began with a presentation on the development of Alatau city.
The city currently covers an area of 88,000 hectares and is divided into four functional zones, which will be developed in phases up to 2050. Growth points and priority development areas for the city have also been identified, and a Roadmap for the development of key infrastructure is being implemented. A Constitutional Law establishing a new governance model has been adopted.
The Gate City residential district is currently under active development, with one ‘comfortable school’ already built there. Five systemically important enterprises are operating in the city: ‘Mareven Food Tian-Shan’, ‘KNAUF’, Fruit Art, Dolce Pharm and the Almaty Fan Plant.
In addition, a portfolio of 53 investment projects has been formed, totalling over 2 trillion tenge.
The Iconic Complex project – Alatau’s flagship multi-functional complex – was presented to the Head of State. One of the city’s main landmarks will be built in the Gate District.
