Alatau City Authority and Prosecutor’s Offices Strengthen Cooperation to Protect Investors’ Rights

Mechanisms for supporting investment projects and protecting businesses are being expanded in Alatau City. Alatau City Authority, the Special Management Organisation, the Service for the Protection of Public Interests of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Investor Rights Protection Committee of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office of Almaty Region have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document provides for joint work on investors’ requests, prevention of administrative barriers and prompt resolution of emerging issues.
The Memorandum sets out the key areas of cooperation between the parties in the implementation of investment projects in Alatau City. Particular attention will be paid to protecting the legitimate interests of investors, identifying potential issues at an early stage and coordinating the work of government authorities.
This work is of particular importance for the city given its growing investment portfolio. Alatau City’s current project pipeline comprises 67 projects with a total investment value of approximately USD 6.9 billion. Their implementation is expected to create around 55,000 jobs.
The new agreement will serve as a basis for closer coordination between Alatau City Authority and the prosecutor’s offices. This will enable a systematic approach to supporting investment projects and strengthen guarantees for the protection of businesses in Alatau City.
