President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev described the project as a landmark initiative for strengthening Kazakhstan–South Korea cooperation in digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
The Head of State noted that Kazakhstan and South Korea are already implementing joint projects in the field of digital technologies.
“The Republic of Korea is one of the leaders in the global technology race. Kazakhstan has also become an active participant in digital transformation. The international Alem.ai centre has been opened in Astana, supercomputers have been launched, and a specialised university focused on artificial intelligence has started its operations. A number of joint initiatives with Korea are also being implemented. In particular, Woosong University has been opened in Turkistan, while an Institute of Artificial Intelligence has been established in Kyzylorda jointly with SeoulTech. A landmark project in our partnership will be the opening of a branch of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), one of the world’s leading technology universities, in Alatau City,” the Head of State said.
