Alatau City will trial tokenisation and establish a data market. A new market for digital products and services will emerge for businesses, whilst additional avenues for technology projects will be created for investors. Collaboration with companies such as BCC Hub and Astana Data Exchange will form part of the city’s emerging ecosystem. New agreements on the development of Alatau City were signed on the sidelines of the Digital Bridge international forum in Astana. Plans include launching pilot projects and establishing digital infrastructure. For businesses and investors, this presents an opportunity to test new models and products, whilst for the city, it offers the chance to create modern services and a more efficient management system based on cutting-edge technologies.
- The project with Alatau City is such an important reflection of the very focus and priorities that the President and the Government currently have. It is, without a doubt, a very ambitious project, and I am delighted that it is built around this very idea, technology and innovation – areas in which Kazakhstan excels. This is precisely what the President speaks about during all his diplomatic missions and foreign visits; there are not many countries in the world where cities are being created at a state level with a focus on the development of AI. Indeed, during his visits abroad, the Head of State refers to Alatau City as the gateway between the economies of Central Asia and Europe. The city of the future is being created as a new centre for business activity, innovation and technological development in Kazakhstan. “All homes, property and services will now be digitised there – there will be a token-based economy where people, companies and government representatives will be able to interact with one another without leaving a single system,” replied Timur Turlov, Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Holding Corporation, at the AI & Digital Bridge forum in Astana.
“This project represents Central Asia’s first ‘smart city’, designed from the outset to meet all the requirements of the digital age. It has the potential to become a practical link between German institutional capital and Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities. “I am confident that Alatau City will become a new hub for talent, technology and business across the whole of Eurasia.” To date, Alatau City’s investment portfolio comprises 67 projects with a total value of around $7 billion, with the potential to create some 55,000 jobs. Priority sectors include green energy, pharmaceuticals, logistics, data centres and digital infrastructure, high-tech agricultural production, as well as the campus of the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the AI & Digital Bridge forum in Astana.
