German companies and Kazakhstan have reached agreements on the first joint projects in the new city of Alatau City. A total of 11 agreements were signed following the Berlin stage of the investment roadshow. The agreements cover manufacturing, mechanical engineering, construction, healthcare, urban security, and unmanned technologies, according to the Government of Kazakhstan.
Key issues discussed in Berlin
The negotiations were led by Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev, who met with representatives of German federal authorities and the business community. The discussions focused on attracting German investment and technologies to Kazakhstan's industrial, energy, construction, and urban infrastructure sectors.
A key topic of the meeting with Levin Holle, Adviser to the Federal Chancellor on International Economic Policy, was the establishment of a joint investment and financing platform. The initiative was proposed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his visit to Germany in September. The Kazakh side proposed Alatau City's infrastructure and industrial projects as pilot initiatives under the platform.
During talks with Olaf Joachim, State Secretary at Germany's Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building, the parties discussed modern construction technologies and energy-efficient solutions. Deputy Prime Minister Bozumbayev also presented the prospects for bilateral economic cooperation to Gunther Krichbaum, Minister of State for Europe at the German Federal foreign office.

The central event of the Berlin stage was the Alatau City Investment Round Table, organized jointly with the German Eastern Business association and the federation of german industries (BDI).
Kanat Bozumbayev presented the city's investment opportunities and the key features of its special legal regime. According to the Government of Kazakhstan, the regime provides investor protection and investment incentives.
