During the visit to the Almaty Region, the Head of State held a meeting on the development of the city of Alatau. Wong Heang Fine, a protégé of Lee Kuan Yew - the man known as the founding father of Singapore as the world knows it today - is the one who working on the concept for the city of Alatau.
Wong Heang Fine presented the president with a complex that will place a 272-meter-tall skyscraper. The design was developed by the team that created the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
“This is the first major project to be implemented in our city. As you can see, it is located right in the core of the new business district. The successful completion of the Iconic Complex will send a very strong signal to potential investors. Therefore, it is extremely important that the complex be built on time and meet the highest standards of design and engineering. The skyscraper will be approximately 272 meters height. Without a doubt, it will be the tallest building in Alatau,” noted Mr. Wong.
Yuriy Tskhay: “After Alatau was granted special legal status in the New Constitution, things moved forward at a rapid pace. Construction will be carried out by CSCEC, a Chinese company that has built 90% of high-rise buildings both in China and around the world. Seismic assessments will be conducted by American and Japanese specialists, and leading global companies are involved in the project’s implementation.”
Today, Alatau covers 88,000 hectares and comprises four future districts, with development planned through 2050. A new governance model is already taking shape here, key infrastructure is being built, and the first residential district, Gate City, is under development. Five major enterprises are operating in the city, and the total value of investment projects has exceeded 2 trillion tenge. Among them are Central Asia’s largest PepsiCo potato processing plant, a modern Mars Petcare pet food production facility, the KHAN TENGRI BIOPHARMA biopharmaceutical complex, and a major logistics cluster.
In fact, the city of the future with such ambitions does not begin with beautiful renderings and skyscrapers, it begins with infrastructure. Everything that is drawn on paper today requires real resources: electricity, water, roads, communications.
